Vermont To Use 90 Percent Renewables By 2030

Vermont has relesed its Comprehensive Energy Plan highlighting how it plans to get 90% of all its energy from renewable sources by 2050. Currently the state receives 23% of its energy from renewable sources. This is mostly from biomass and hydropower which supply roughly 50% of the state's electricity.

During the first public comment period, from March 2011 to July 15, 2011 before the release of the Public Review Draft, over 7,800 comments were submitted. Over 7000 of these first period comments were form letters, signed and submitted by members of at least two different organizations. Another  200 comments were submitted by various municipal, business, and non-profit entities, including members of the general public.
